Haviana Heaven
Everybody knows that Havianas are from Brazil.
Everybody thinks they are cheaper then here in Australia (well mostly that's true but not always)
Everybody wants a pair and has trouble choosing what colour they want....
Well imagine the trouble I had when I was in Brazil, when I was in the largest supermarket I had every been too, When there was a full isle of Havianas to choose from and where they were all cheaper then in Australia!
It took me about half an hour to choose and for sure it's not going to be the last pair I buy this year. Besides the normal thongs we are used to in Australia there are also three or four different structural designs, some more like sandals, and some more like dress shoes. There are even strawberry smelling ones - for the little miss shortcake fans.
Something that is definitely different between Australia and Brazil is that the best places to buy Havianas is the supermarket, most clothes stores do not even stock Havi's.
Thanks to the girls from Curitiba that helped me to choose me first pair, late on Saturday night. Lucky the supermarket was open 24 hours.

I have had to start calling thongs 'flip flops' after telling people 'I will just wear my thongs to coffee' and getting this horrified look because they have just had a mental picture of my accompanying them to coffee in a g-string.
Ah, cultural differences.

hahaha yeah i know how you feel renee, it's tough when you have to choose between your native language and preventing those moments of horrified shock in your friends!
luce - AWESOME! definitely get heaps, a different pair for each day of the week maybe? go for the strawberry smelling ones next time! :)
