The Constant Gardner

I don't know if you have seen this movie or not yet. I hadn't heard of it until I got home the other night and my house mates were leaving to go to the movies.
It has a Brazilian director, the same one as City of God so it is beautifully filmed, but it is an English language movie. It's set in Kenya and northern Africa and the landscape is very striking.

I'm not going to give away the storyline of the movie as for me it was definitely more impactful because I didn't have any idea what was going to happen but it is the most powerful movie I have seen in a long time, even more then the Iraqi film about the orphans I saw with John and Brett when I was back in Australia.

It is based on the book of the same name written by John LeCarre.

If you want a movie that is going to stretch some of your boundaries, that is going to make you look at the world a little differently, that is going to make you think - GO AND SEE IT. And if you don't want to think, go and see it for the cinematography anyway.

If you want to see a REALLY powerful movie, Hotel Rwanda is it. The thing that hits you about this is that its actually a true story set during the genocide that occurred in the 90s.

    Hey Luce,

I saw it last week! I read the book earlier this year and loved it, so when the movie was released I wanted to check it out. Not as good as the book (the plot is a little thicker in the book, the chase a little more exciting with extra characters etc) but then again movies can never capture everything in a good book!

I really enjoyed it anyway, definitely worth seeing :) Hope you weren't disappointed with the lack of gardening ;)

    Keep out of mischief,
    Luv flic xxx
