Public holidays and BBQs

For some reason today was a public holiday in Brazil. I'm not sure why but Isabella mentioned she thought it was slightly religous and for day of the dead or something similar.

Well the day was best utilised by going to a International Relations Class BBQ. BBQ or Churrasco is something very special here in Brazil. It happens everytime there is an excuse to get together and usually it is more common to get together for a BBQ then to go out for dinner with friends. So far I still have only seen students BBQs which are great but I hear great things about proper family BBQs so I can't wait until I have a chance to take part in one of them.

It was interesting to meet this international relations class. They are in their final year doing their final papers and they have spent the last four years studying together. It's very different to what I'm used to in Australia because their is more flexibility in the subjects you choose to do and when. I know them because three of the members are current AIESEC members, 2 more are actually ex-members I found out today and another one is just about to become a trainee (SN). Not bad for a non- AIESEC day and a class of 25 people.

It was an hour out of the city in a beautiful country home, so got to see some more of the countryside - very beautiful.

    Ahhh BBQs :D

Interesting how we always think they're so Aussie, but so many other cultures enjoy them just as much. Any special recipies you've learnt? Looking forward to a Brasilian lunch next year in Adelaide :)
